I would love to make one effect (the body slinger > I > think) but would it work? Is there any possible way to make it work?? > Thanks, > Julie > Jlisa1@aol.com > Short answer: no. Long one: Most likely not....it just does not have the needed air flow to be used by itself. AND these cheap compressors are not made for continuous duty. I am willing to say....FOR ONE pop up effect....It will work. BUT, you WILL need one tank, buy a 5 gallon spare air tank. Fill it BEFORE the event, and use the tank to run your pop up. I have a portable pop up that basically runs this way. It will "pop" 50 times before the air runs out. Even if it popped up every 5 minutes that’s over 4 hours of run time. But your system must be AIR TIGHT to prevent leaks. You will need a 3 way air valve do NOT use a bleeder system, which is an air valve that is OPEN or CLOSED and has a leak in the line to release the air from the pop. Or make a cheap system using the tank, the little compressor a timer that will turn the compressor on and off,and a pressure relief valve that will keep the tank from exploding. BUT....IT WILL GET HOT...so be careful. You always are interested in helping other members and you are always very involved in the registry I have noticed. Thanks for your interest. Myrtles Plantation is located just north of Baton Rouge in La. I hope I get all the facts fairly accurate.....memory you know. Anyway, There were about 11 people that have died or were murdered in the house. One died on some stairs. There is a mirror in the lobby which they resilver every few years. It is the original frame, but a new mirror. Within a short time hand prints and facial prints appear......everytime. They don't know why. My mirror at home doesn't do that! There are the weirdest paintings I have ever seen there. I wish I could get them into the computer. Unfortunately they would not let us take pictures in the house. There was a confederate soldier painting in the house that they don't know who did it or who it is. There is a good story of a slave girl named Chloie who was the master's personal playtoy. Anyway, this went on awhile and the master got another "playtoy". Chloie felt like they would send her back to the fields to work and she made a despirate attempt to redeem herself with the master (who was a confederate general). She put oliendar (don't know if I spelled that right) into the kids food that night. Her goal was to make them sick and cure them. Her grandma had told her how to use the stuff. Anyway, she used too much, and killed the kids and wife. The general did not eat the cake that night. She knew she was in for it and headed to the woods behind the house where they caught her and hanged her from a tree. Oh, let me back up. Once the general caught Chloie spying on him and one of his other playtoys and had her ear cut off. She always wore a red bandana on her head after that. If you visit the house they had photos of the house and there was a shadow/figure of a slave girl in the pictures.....creepy. They had alot of photos. I have been there many times and always get a creepy feeling while there. Apparently the National Geographic did a study there and deemed it the most haunted house in America. There were alot more details but I am out of time......gotta go to work....Kim -----Original Message----- From: Erica To: halloween-l@netcom.com Date: Friday, August 28, 1998 7:47 AM Subject: Re: HALL: Myrtle's Plantation >Yes details, lots and lots of details please >-Erica- > >-----Original Message----- >From: PAUL HERRING >To: Registry Halloween >Date: Thursday, August 27, 1998 9:00 PM >Subject: HALL: Myrtle's Plantation > >>I am from Louisiana and if you are ever there, or you live there, you >should >>definately visit Myrtle's Plantation which is just north of Baton Rouge. >It >>is said to be the most haunted house in America and when you go there you >>will see why. I needed skeleton hands and misc. bones a few years ago and came up with this idea (budget, as always was tight) - I used easily made wire frames shaped the way I wanted my hands to be positioned, any craft wire will do, and then used medical plaster casting material to wrap and sculpt fingers etc... The casting material comes in 2,3 & 4" widths and regular or fast set varieties. I recommend reg. set at first. It will harden rapidly anyway. It takes a bit of practice but the results are great and very inexpensive. The casting material can be obtained thru med. supply companies but if you don't have access, try a local veterinarian or medical office and see if he/she will order you some. The cheaper generics work fine. When its dry it can be sprayed or painted w/wood stain to "antique it" The result is very realistic. For outdoor applications seal w/polyurethane. Mine have lasted well. Last year I needed skeletal hands for a 15' grim reaper and this method solved the problem of where to find 18" hands! I've since come up for more uses of casting material. Date: Sat, 29 Aug 1998 11:17:08 -0700 Reply-To: halloween-l@netcom.com Hi all, I am also starting to work on our invitation for this years party. Our theme is "Night of the Living Dead" so people will come dressed as a favorite deceased or any generic corpse. Our decorations will include lots of corpses in and out including a graveyard complete with dead rising, trash can trauma, grave jumper and home made corpse from Distefano's book and lots of other misc. spooky stuff. What I really would like is graphics for the invitations and would even be willing to pay a reasonable price for a design. If anyone can be of help or have any suggestions at all, please e-mail me on or off list. Thanks in advance. Anyway, I've been trying to get things going at my volunteer haunt regarding t-shirts, both to give to volunteers and to sell to the public, with little luck so far. I'm sure that a fair number of list members have, or are associated with, haunts (or haunt suppliers) that sell t-shirts. I'd like to ask that any/all of those folks e-mail me privately, or let the list know, of what they have, cost, design, etc. I'm all for supporting other listees with some advertising, plus it allows me to get a nice shirt or two that I can wear when the mood strikes. It also might let me shame a couple people here locally into getting on the ball.... Sometimes this is due to how the message get routed. If your email reader sorts messages by date and time, they should return back to the right order. Unfortunately, some people do not keep their clocks set correctly, so that even if the message arrive in the correct order, the date/time sort rearranges them out of order. -Chuck- __________________________________________________________________________ Chuck Rice To unsubscribe, send email to listserv@netcom.com with: "unsubscribe halloween-l " in the body of the post. It's a lot of fun and people love coming to it, but it is a lot of hard work. (As you all probably know and could relate to.) This is my way of celebrating Halloween and without it, it wouldn't be Halloween. My haunted tour is a tradition and I can not break it! Here's the PROBLEM: This year, my parents have finally had all they can take. Their bedroom is in the basement! Everytime they come up and down the stairs, they have to go through all the skeletons, dummies, tunnels, ect. My parents will not let me make my haunted tour this year. So, I decided to make it in the garage, which will be much smaller, but still good enough. Still, my parents don't like the idea. My mom does not even want to discuss it and jumps down my throat whenever I mention it. She says I should get busy with more important things, like getting a job, and such... (I swear I can do both! So what! I'm a little busy! No prob!) She also says the garage is too dangerous, but it is NOT. It's only another excuse of hers. She doesn't want me to have my haunted house and I don't know what to say to her. (My dad doesn't care too much about the garage.) I NEED to get started now or else I won't finish it by October!!! My mom is killing my Halloween! Does anyone else ever have these problems? By the way, I posted a message about this before, asking for ideas. Thanks to you all who replied. You can fix that useing the following code(I think, I hope):

Does anyone else ever have these problems?" One thing that might help is to get together with a local charity and collect donations for a worthy cause. Neighbors and parents alike become more tolerant when there is a "purpose" as opposed to just scaring people. We have to remember, the rest of the world is not like us. I am 39 years old and my parents still visit my place and shake their heads. But yet, they not only lend a hand when asked (you should have seen the excitement in my father's eyes when he was helping me pick up some items at Castle Blood earlier this year), they also talk up the Haunted Chamber to the folks they know. Chances are your mom and dad will never understand, but in time they may deal with it better if they see a positive side. I also agree that you should ask them to help in certain ways and make it a family project. If you ever get the chance, you should ask my parents about losing access to their gameroom for about six consecutive months in 1976 so that I could design and then construct my first seance. Some of ours appear to be clear plastic all the way around, but others seem to have a band of something(aluminum, paint?) wrapped around the sides so that, I guess, stray lights (headlights, porch lights, lasers...)don't turn it off. These would appear to only receive light from a source directly over them, like the sun. This can throw very sharp shards of plastic a LONG ways. When PET bottles break, they split open and lose pressure more gracefully. PVC pipe has a clear limit; kust don't exceed it!
