The Mac Electronics Mailing List provides a place for Macintosh users who build electronics to discuss ways to use their Macs to design, program, and interface to those projects.
Mac users often hear about some neat new gadget such as PICstics or Stamps or simulation software or such only to discover that the required software only runs on the PC or that it requires a parallel port.
The president of our local robotics club once told the group that if you want to work on electronics, you needed to get a PC, as there was nothing available for the Mac. There is some truth to that, I hope we can change it. There are resources available for Mac users. I hope we can share with each other interfaces and resources and ideas on how to use what we have and how to overcome the places we currently have limitations. For some good starting places, see Jim Lee's Mac Robotics Links page.
Method 1: For people who have their Web Browsers set up for email, just click on subscribe or unsubscribe. A properly addressed, empty mail message will be created. Then just send it. |

Method 2: If the above does not work, then you will have to create the email by hand. This is not too difficult. Just create a new email message and send it to:
In the subject field, put
You can leave the body of the message empty. Anything you do put there will be ignored. As an example, if you use Eudora, Once you have created the message, just click the send button. To unsubscribe, do the same thing, but put a UN in front of subscribe to make the subject unsubscribe mactron. Note that the list requires that all posts come from people who are subscribed to the list, so make sure that the address that you subscribe from is the same one that you will be sending messages from. |

Standard list rules apply: No cussn', flaming, or spamming. New release announcements that have to do with both the Mac and Electronics are valid, but keep them simple and provide a URL for the bulk of the message. Provide information, not marketing drivel.
If you stop getting messages from the list, it may be because I have been getting bounce messages back when the list tries to send to you. The only way I have to resolve these is to delete you. If this happens to you, get your email problems cleared up, then resubscribe.
Questions to the list can range from basic to complex. No one is an expert in all fields. If you do not know, and cannot find the answer in the available doc, ask. If we get a question too often, we can create a FAQ.
Please try to keep your signature lines short. It is recommended that you use four lines or less. While the traffic is low, I will allow most anything but spam. If the traffic gets high, I will want the chatter cut down.
Otherwise, I will let you know if I think that something is getting out of hand.
