. The TCHC welcomes anyone who loves "all things scary," but especially those who love Halloween. TCHC basically revolves around members' own home haunts set up for Halloween. We meet regularly to share ideas and learn new techniques to improve out haunts each year. Whether novice or professional, every member brings different skills and interests to our group, which makes the group a better resource. We hold meetings about once a month throughout the year. Meetings often have a theme, and many are set around workshops. We have had workshop meetings on tombstone construction, air powered props, mechanical props, zombie construction, monster mud figures, maze wall construction, and special effects makeup. Sometimes we just meet to show off what we each have been working on, or to just talk about Halloween. As a group we have many official and unofficial activities. During October we try to visit as many Haunted Houses as we can, both in town and out of town. Many members travel to the Chicago Halloween convention in March. A few of us went to a Halloween Conference in Ohio, where we also stayed overnight in the prison that "The Shawshank Redemption" was filmed. A couple of the members are setting up their own commercial haunted house, and we have all helped them in some fashion. The website for their Haunted House is at http://www.the-dead-zone.com Many of us helped shoot a commercial for it. Through our network contacts we have received behind the scene tours of several Haunted Houses. We have gone to horror movies together at theaters and watched bad horror videos at each others homes. We maintain communication with each other on an email list at Yahoo Groups called TCHauntClub. You can sign up here http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TCHauntClub. Once you join, if anyone sends an email to the group, you will receive it. We would love to have you join us. |
